Adapters enable use of smaller-pitch devices

The BGA Switch-a-pitch adapters enable the use of smaller-pitch devices with larger-pitch boards. The adapters feature 0.5-mm-pitch BGA landing pads on the top, and 1.27-mm-pitch BGA balls on the bottom.

The Switch-a-pitch boards are 1.57-mm-thick FR4 or Rogers 370 HR substrates, with 1/2-oz copper traces on both sides, non-solder-mask-defined pads finished with electroless nickel immersion gold and solder spheres of 63/37 lead/tin or lead-free SAC305 alloy. Device operating temperatures are to 105°C for FR4 or to 130°C for lead-free substrates. (Adapter with 64 positions, $25 ea/300 adapters — available now.)
