Adapters support USB, RS-485, CAN connections

Three adapter modules for the iMP and iVS series of intelligent, digitally configurable ac/dc switching power supplies enable USB and CAN, and RS-485 bus connectivity to interface between the host device and the I2 C bus with a simple command set. The adapters also enable the power supplies to be used for automotive networks, industrial networks, medical equipment and building automation systems.

The modules communicate with the onboard I2 C bus via the MODbus Protocol for the RS-485 bus and modified MODbus for CANbus. The interface adapters are internally powered when connected to the case’s 5-VSB port and include an on-board socket for reprogramming the interface adapter controller. Microcontrollers are integrated into the case and modules are paired with a GUI-based control software. The software enables designers to configure and reconfigure voltages, current limits and inhibit/enable settings for individual power supplies. (From $6 ea/large qty — available now.)
