Available in small 16-pin TSSOP packages, the WM8788 and WM8789 stereo audio A/D converters are claimed to deliver crystal clear audio which improves the audio performance of LCD televisions, DVD players and recorders, Blu-ray players and set-top box applications. These ADCs are powered from a single 3.3-V supply rail and feature a pair of stereo analog audio inputs for capturing line level inputs in the 1-Vrms range with SNR performance of 106 dB SNR and 93 dB of THD+N.
Input signals greater than 1 Vrms are captured by configuring external resistors. Additionally, the WM8789 features an extra pair of stereo analog inputs. The hi-fi ICs output 16-, 20-, or 24-bit stereo data on the digital audio interface and operate in both master and slave modes. Both devices feature a digital high-pass filter for noise and dc offset removal and also supports audio sample rates from 8 kHz to 192 kHz, while master clock ratios of 128 fs up to 768 fs are possible (fs = sampling rate).
