Analog Devices, Inc. has launched the first in a series of ADI EagleEye people-counting application-level software algorithms, as part of a complete hardware subsystem and software building block platform. The ADI EagleEye ADSW4000 PeopleCount algorithm is designed for people detection and counting in indoor spaces such as meeting rooms or office cubicles.
The algorithm provides occupancy state and location of a person in x and y coordinates. The coverage area for optimal accuracy of 90% is a 3 m radius. The maximum coverage area is a 5 m radius with an 80% accuracy. Multiple sensors can be combined for larger coverage area and greater accuracy.
The ADI EagleEye platform includes a hardware subsystem based on the company’s Blackfin embedded digital signal processor (DSP) and a set of application-level software building blocks, which enable designers to develop their own people-counting systems. The ADSW4000 algorithm includes system edge node analytics that provides insights to improve space utilization, people safety through distance monitoring, and energy efficiency in intelligent buildings.
The end-to-end hardware and software solution also maintains security and privacy with images processed but not transmitted from the edge node, said ADI.
The EVAL-ADSW4000KTZ, or ADI EagleEye trial kit, is a full sensor to cloud evaluation system, including the EagleEye DSP subsystem, a Cortex-based microcontroller subsystem, flash memory, the ADSW4000 algorithm, application software, and cloud dashboard access. The plug-and-play evaluation platform is priced at $650.
