Nowadays, the electronic technology is focused on obtaining good performance from circuits, but with a consumption as small as possible and a maximum yield. This especially applies for voltage regulators because they are encountered in almost all the circuits. As linear LDOs have a very poor conversion efficiency, they will generate a lot of heat, which bring some disadvantages (for instance, to dissipate this warm, additional space is needed on the circuit board — for cooling regions). That is why switching regulators are the best choice. They provide the possibility of voltage conversion at higher efficiencies. Consequently, both small dimension and low losses are achievable. The Silego-based solution uses a synchronous configuration, and so it manages to obtain efficiencies of over 95% (so it generates an extremely low amount of heat). Furthermore, its feedback mechanism assures a fixed output voltage independent on the load current. Moreover, due to Silego’s small dimension and to the low overall heat generated by the whole circuit, it will be very compact, occupying a very small area in the layout.
