ADPCM codec IC for digital communications
The MC145540 encodes speech signals to digital adaptive differential
pulse-code modulation (ADPCM) bit rates of 32, 24, or 16 kbits/s, or
pulse-code modulation at 64 kbits/s, and simultaneously decodes digital
code back to analog speech signals. It meets the 32-kbits/s ADPCM
conformance requirements of CCITT G.721 and ANSI T1.301. The MC145540
includes a serial control port that provides microcomputer access to
internal control and status registers. The device operates over a range of
2.7 to 5.25 V and dissipates 65 mW at 3 V. It comes in 28-pin plastic DIPs
and SO packages. A hardware evaluation board is also available. (MC145540,
