There’s nothing worse than stepping off an airplane and immediately realizing that you aren’t dressed properly for the local weather. An airport in Sweden is looking to provide its customers with the chance to adjust their attire prior to boarding the plane, and they’re doing this by setting up pods that allow travelers to step in and experience the weather as it is taking place at their final destination.
Sure, one could check the news for a weather report, or pull up a mobile app to look up information on a destination’s climate. But that takes away all the fun these pods have to offer. Using a combination of temperature and wind simulators, along with audiovisual clues, these three pods — which, it should be noted, are referred to as the “Climate Portal” and are only available in Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport — are able to replicate weather conditions of locations the world over.
A bit more specifically, the pods are outfitted with heaters and air conditioners that simulate temperature. Wind simulators and misters are also included to add to the realism, and data about each city’s weather is drawn from a cloud that is constantly updated with real time information.
The three pods are called “Go Hot”, “Go Cold” and “Go Big’. The former is meant to simulate places like the desert in Dubai, while Go Cold recreates frigid winter conditions, and Go Big allows the user to check weather conditions in all of the world’s major cities.

The Climate Portal installation will be up and running through August.
