Altera: MAX IIZ CPLDs Zero Out Power

Green SemiAppMAX IIZ is a zero-power Complex PLD with unique abilities to achieve ultra-low power consumption. The EPM240Z device consumes just 29 microAmps in standby current. The industry classifies anything below 100 microA as zero-power. MAX IIZ contains an internal oscillator for its auto-power-down capability. Combining non-volatility and instant-on performance with an innovative look-up table (LUT) logic structure, it breaks through the power limitations of traditional macrocell-based CPLDs. Reducing standby current of the low-voltage, power-on reset circuitry while raising the transistor voltage threshold to reduce leakage, yields zero-power consumption in end systems, while boosting energy conservation. MAX IIZ monitors its inputs to perform a self-stop or self-start, reducing overall power consumption. When idle for a period of time, shutdown or standby mode is invoked, conserving battery life. MAX IIZ is available in four green MBGA packages.
