The XMPL series of multi-layer aluminum polymer chip capacitors feature very-low ESR, longer life, and greater temperature stability than other available parts. The devices come in 6.8 to 470 µF values with voltage ratings of 2 to 16 V and 7.3 x 4.3 mm packages with 1.0 or 2.8 mm thickness.
The capacitors operate over -40° to 105°C with leakage current at 25°C of 0.04CV or 0.10 CV. They have a load life of 1,000 hours at 105°C with full-rated voltage applied. An example 150 µF, 4 V device (157XMPL004MG19X) has an ESR of 0.66 Ω max at 20°C and 120 Hz, and 9 mΩ max at 100 – 300 kHz. It will handle a ripple current of 3 A at 100 kHz and 105°C and has a leakage current of 24 µA after 2 minutes. Samples available. Prices start at $0.18 ea/production volumes.
