The AVG Series aluminum polymer capacitors are said to offer the very low ESR benefits of polymer with higher operating temperature and voltage. They are rated for 125°C at up to 160 WVDC and are available with greater CV (Capacity x Voltage) values, in a given case size, than other similar capacitors.
The polymer units have a number of advantages over conventional electrolytic capacitors. For example, the 220 µF, 35 V device (227AVG035MGBJ) has an ESR of just 0.90 Ω at 120 Hz and just 26 mΩ at 100 to 300 kHz, with a ripple rating of 3400 mA at 100 KHz. It comes in a 10 x 12 mm package. Values range from 4.7 to 1500 µF at 16 to 160 V, and prices start at $0.23 ea/production volumes.
