Aluminum V-chip capacitors deliver high endurance

Kyocera AVX’s AEK aluminum V-chip capacitors offer commercial endurance levels for industrial, commercial DC/DC and energy-storage applications.

Kyocera AVX has introduced the new surface-mount AEK series of wet aluminum-electrolytic V-chip capacitors. Qualified to commercial endurance levels, these aluminum V-chip capacitors are designed for industrial, commercial DC/DC and energy-storage applications with high-density printed-circuit boards. In addition to high endurance, they provide high capacitance/voltage (C/V) performance in smaller packaging and low equivalent series resistance (ESR).

The AEK series is available in 12 different case sizes from 0608 to 1216 with a selection of 66 part numbers. The series offers a wide range of capacitance values from 1–1,000 μF and voltage ratings from 6.3-400 VDC.

The operating temperature is -55°C to 105°C for the 6.3-100 V range and -40°C to 105°C for 160-400 V range. Endurance rating at 105°C is 2,000 hours for the 6.3-100 V range and 3,000 hours for the 160-400 V range. Click here for the data sheet.

The AEK series aluminum V-chip  capacitors are supplied with pure tin terminations on 13-inch or 15-inch reels compatible with automated assembly equipment and support reflow assembly. They are RoHS-compliant and lead-free compatible. They are AEC-Q200 tested.

Available now, lead time for the AEK series is currently 24 weeks. They are available through Kyocera AVX’s authorized distributors Digi-Key, Mouser Electronics and TTI.
