Ambient sensors work with many light sources

Designed to work with LCD backlighting, the BH16xx analog-output and BH17xx digital-output ambient light sensor series are said to offer industry-leading stability over a wide range of light sources. They also provide precise light-sensing accuracy, a wide illuminance measurement range, and proprietary gain and shutdown functionality.

The sensors use a proprietary trimming process and multiple photodiodes with different junction depths to closely match human-eye sensitivities. Light-sensing accuracy is ±15%, ambient light detection varies ±10% max regardless of light source, and detection range is up to 100,000 lux.
