Analog devices AD7124-8 low-power, low-noise AFE for precision measurements now at Mouser

The AD7124-8 is ideal for designs that require high-precision measurements.

Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the AD7124-8 low-power, low-noise analog front end (AFE) from Analog Devices. This completely integrated AFE contains a low-noise, 24-bit sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and can be configured to have eight differential inputs or 15 single-ended or pseudo differential inputs. The AD7124-8 is ideal for designs that require high-precision measurements.

Analog Devices

The Analog Devices AD7124-8 AFE, available from Mouser Electronics, connects directly to all standard industrial signal sources and sensor inputs, thanks to the on-chip low gain stage that enables small amplitude signals to be interfaced directly to the ADC. The high degree of integration of the AD7124-8 (eight differential inputs or 15 single-ended or pseudo differential inputs) simplifies design architecture and shortens the design cycle by providing the flexibility to support multiple types of sensor inputs, including resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, voltage/current inputs, and current bridges.

The integrated design incorporates the signal chain with a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC, programmable gain amplifier (PGA), precision reference, reference buffers, current sources, temperature sensor and excitation sources on a single chip. Because the analog-to-digital function is provided by a sigma-delta architecture, the device is more immune to noisy environments, making it ideal for use in sensor measurement, and industrial and process control applications. Integrated diagnostic features support safe integrity level (SIL) compatibility and reduce the need for discrete diagnostic components saving valuable PCB area.

The AD7124-8 includes a temperature sensor, overvoltage/undervoltage detection, and an on-chip bias voltage generator, as well as two programmable constant current generators. The MODE input is pulled charge for charge mode and low for discharge mode. For optimal performance, the Analog Devices' AD7124-8 is rated at a temperature range of −40°C to +105°C. The device is available through Mouser Electronics in a 32-lead 5 mm × 5 mm × 0.75 mm LFCS package, and is ideally suited for temperature measurement, pressure measurement, industrial process control, instrumentation, and smart transmitters.
