Analog Devices Announces Availability Of Fusiv-Vx 150 Network Processors For VoIP, Gateway Applications

Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI) announced the availability of its Fusiv™-Vx 150 network processing chipset, which extends the breakthrough performance, scalability, and integration of ADI’s Fusiv-Vx product line for uses that range from analog telephone adapters (ATA) to residential gateways. The Fusiv-Vx 150 combines wire-speed network processing, signaling, and full-chain voice processing. As a result, it is ideal for manufacturers creating affordable customer premises equipment (CPE) designed to deliver one or more broadband services — ranging from voice over IP (VoIP), to wireless local-area network (WLAN), to triple-play (voice, data, video).

VoIP and triple-play gateways for the digital home benefit from breakthrough performance, scalability, and integration.

Accelerator Processors are responsible for the Fusiv-Vx 150 network processor’s ability to achieve wire-speed performance even with small packet sizes. Its Accelerator Processors handle the routing and QoS functions, freeing the main CPU to run customer-specific applications; scale to new services, such as home automation, gaming, and jukebox functionality; and add customer-friendly interfaces, such as on-screen menus and program guides.

“The role of the residential gateway is becoming more demanding as multiservice applications are being rolled out in the market,” said John Croteau, GM at Analog Devices, Inc. “The Fusiv-Vx 150 chipset fills the need for a powerful, scalable network processor able to satisfy this important market segment’s ever-growing requirements, plus offering the headroom for future applications”.
