The system is a flexible environment for BER measurement, letting users evaluate direct-drive EML with 3.5-Vp-p waveforms and skew, emphasis, and crosstalk effects to 28 Gbits/s. The MP1800 can be configured with four outputs to drive four channels of 100-Gbit/s Ethernet CWDM (per IEEE 802.3ba draft) or with two outputs to test long-haul 40-Gbit/s transmission.
