The AS3502 ANC (active noise cancellation) IC enables active noise cancellation for feed-back solutions where the microphone of the system is acoustically close to the loudspeaker, while the AS3501 is a solution for feed-forward noise cancellation. Both ICs operate from a single 1.0 to 1.8-V supply over –20° to 70°C and combine true ground headphone amplifier stages with flexible noise-cancelling architectures. The ICs also operate in either stand-alone mode (ideal for accessories), or embedded mode (ideal for integration into portable multimedia applications).
The parts can provide up to 34 mW in single-ended mode and over 100 mW in BTL into 16-Ω loudspeakers from a 1.5-V supply. Housed in a QFN package, the parts offer greater than 100-dB SNR and less than 0.1% THD. In addition, a calibration solution removes the need for manual intervention during the manufacturing process and improves field reliability. (Ea/1,000: AS3501, $2.50; AS3502, $4.10 — available now.)
