Angle sensor has SAE SENT J2716 interface

The AS5165 contactless magnetic angle position sensor for accurate angular measurement over a full 360° includes a SENT (single edge nibble transmission) J2716 interface for simple transmission of high-resolution sensor information. It combines integrated Hall elements, an analog front-end, digital signal processing — all in a TSSOP14 package. It also provides protection for the power supply and output pins against overvoltage up to 27 V; power supply pins are also protected against reverse polarity to –18 V.

To measure an angle, only a simple two-pole magnet rotating over the center of the chip is required. No calibration is required. The absolute angle measurement provides instant indication of the magnet’s angular position with a programmable resolution of 0.022° = 16,384 positions per revolution. The AS5165 is AEC-Q100 grade 0 qualified and operates from a 5-V supply over a –40° to 150°C temperature range. (Contact company for price and availability.)
