From its founding in 1952 as a manufacturer of toggle switches, APEM has grown into a world class manufacturing group with more than 120 product lines produced in 12 manufacturing facilities across 4 continents.

Expanding from its early years as a switch industry pioneer, APEM today supplies professional switches, industrial joysticks, keypad assemblies, and LED indicators to diversified markets, including; transportation, defense, industrial automation, medical, instrumentation, construction and agriculture. The APEM group supplies more than 20,000 customers worldwide.

“Over the past 60 years, APEM has become one of the leading manufacturers of man-machine interfaces,” said Peter Brouillette, President and CEO of APEM’s North America operations. “APEM’s products are found at the heart of innovative products around the globe.” APEM will be kicking off the yearlong celebration at EDS 2012 in Las Vegas with customers, distributors and other professionals in the industry.

APEM was established in 1952 in Montpezat de Quercy, in southwest France. The company’s early focus was on the manufacturing of industrial switches and it quickly expanded into miniature switches to respond to changes in industrial equipment. Vertically integrated manufacturing has been a company philosophy from the start. The company continues to excel in plastic injection molding, metal turning, progressive stamping, and precious metal plating.

APEM began expanding internationally in the 1970s, creating subsidiaries across Europe and acquiring businesses in Asia and North America. APEM entered the United States market over 20 years ago through the acquisition of American Switch Corporation in Wakefield Massachusetts and has grown into one of the leading switch brands in the US. Through its recent acquisition of CH Products in Vista, California APEM has become a leader in the field of joysticks and simulation control devices.
