IEEE Photonics Society’s 2012 Avionics, Fiber-Optics & Photonics Conference to Showcase Recent Strides in Deploying Fiber Optics and Photonics Technology on Commercial & Military Platforms
COCOA BEACH, FL (1 August 2012) — The IEEE Photonics Society’s 2012 Avionics, Fiber-Optics & Photonics Conference (AVFOP 2012) is an application-oriented conference which provides a common international forum for leaders, researchers, engineers, technicians, logisticians, manufacturers and instructors to convene and discuss all aspects of severe environment fiber optic component systems and technology, as well as the reliability, maintainability, producibility, supportability, and future direction of those systems.
Approximately 130 photonics professionals from industry, academia and government will gather for the annual AVFOP 2012 Conference at the Courtyard Marriott in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Presentations will span a broad range of topics focused on: Avionics/vetronics fiber optics & photonics technology synergies… Avionics architecture/networking & standardization for aerospace systems… Optical components for analog/RF signal transmission & distribution in harsh environments… Modeling & simulation of aerospace fiber optic components, links & systems… Avionics/aerospace fiber optic component & system reliability… and other topics presented by experts in avionic, fiber-optics and photonics.
“The aerospace industry has made great strides in recent years deploying fiber optics and photonics technology on commercial and military platforms,” said AVFOP 2012 General Chair, Bill Jacobs of SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific, USA. “This trend will continue as avionics fiber optic system architectures, networking schemes and components evolve.”
