Arbitrary waveform generators set new speed record

Offer 20% performance boost, with specs such as 9.6-GHz effective RF output, 10-bit resolution, and 24-Gsample/s rates

Consisting of AWG7000B and AWG5000B models, the AWG B arbitrary waveform generator series provides a 20% performance boost over prior AWG instruments, to claim the gold as the world’s fastest and most capable AWG family. The instruments were designed to meet the test needs for high-speed serial data buses and wideband RF applications.

Arbitrary waveform generators set new speed record

The AWG7000B provide 9.60-GHz effective RF output, 10-bit resolution, and sample rates to 24 Gsamples/s — a 20% improvement over previous units and more than four times the performance of any other AWGs. Thus it is the only AWG that can produce high-speed serial waveforms at up to 8 Gbits/s with real-life imperfections — such as noise, jitter, pre/de-emphasis and multilevel signaling.

With the RDR option for the RFXpress Software suite, users can flexibly create pulsed radar waveforms on either the AWG7000B or AWG5000B. And used with SerialXpress software, which direct synthesizes waveforms for high-speed serial data receiver testing, the instruments let designers rapidly test SATA, SAS, PCI-Express, HDMI, DisplayPort and other serial bus technologies operating at speeds up to 8 Gbits/s. (600-Msample/s AWG5000B, from $28,000; 6-Gsample/s AWG7061B, from $65,000; RFXpress from $5,000 — available now.)
