ARM Cortex processor core is lowest power

The 32-bit Cortex-M0+ processor core runs at even lower power than the M0 — about 50% lower. The core consumes just 9 µA/MHz on a 90-nm LP process and only 42 µA/MHz on a 180-nm process.

The design also yields about 10% better CoreMark/MHz performance. It features an improved flash memory interface, improved debug and trace capability, and a memory protection unit for safety related designs. The core will be available from a number of MCU suppliers later this year, including some in the next month or so. (Price not given — available to semi mfgs now.)
