The Mali-T880 GPU IP for mobile applications yields 1.8X the graphics performance of today's solution, along with a 40% reduction in energy consumption across identical workloads. The GPU can have one to sixteen cores and runs at 850 MHz with up to 1700 Mtri/s and 13.6 Gpix/s performance. Also introduced are video and display processors.
The devices native 10-bit YUV support enables high fidelity 4K displays without the need to perform intermediate conversions in software. The Mali-DP550 display processor and Mali-V550 video processor address the requirements of increasingly popular 4K DTV and STB. The DPU offers enhanced capabilities for offloading tasks such as composition, scaling, rotation and image post-processing from the GPU for maximium battery life. The VPU supports HEVC to deliver compressed HD video at lower bit rates and offers scalability up to 4K120 with its full eight cores.
