The ATCA-1000 ATCA raid storage blade with four AdvancedMC slots provides multiprotocol IP storage services within a telecom shelf, including iSCSI, NFS, and CIF. Functions include RAID 1/0 implemented in hardware, hot sparing AMC drives, and redundant 10-Gbit fabric and 1G Ethernet base connections.
Some applications include in-chassis storage for ATCA applications deployed in edge and service areas, and as an IP storage gateway for deployments which have access to an external SAN infrastructure. The AMC approach allows for design flexibility. All four slots can be populated with storage modules, or three slots can be occupied by redundant hard drives, and the fourth can provide an external SAN interface, for example.
