The WM8400 AudioPlusT smart-power audio IC combines a multimedia codec, on-chip FLL, two dc/dc converters, and four LDO regulators inside a 105-pin 6 x 6-mm BGA package. The chip’s audio codec delivers 98 dB SNR, and its digital core consumes 5 mW during a voice call.
The part also includes a 1-W mono speaker driver and pop/click suppression. Four headphone driver outputs support conventional, fully differential or cap-less drive. Multiple microphone or analog line inputs (mono or stereo, single-ended or differential) are supported, and a programmable high-pass filter is provided to remove low-frequency noise from the input signal.
