A company called Fusar Technologies has just shown off a futuristic new motorcycle helmet called the Guardian, which uses an advanced HUD (Heads-Up Display), video recording, and augmented reality technology to make motorcycle riders safer.
The company showed off their invention at the Augmented World Expo, or AWE 2014 event taking place this week in sunny Santa Clara, California, which is an event dedicated to emerging technologies dealing with augmented reality.
While we don’t know the specifics about the helmet yet, the Guardian could let users monitor traffic, find gas stations or rest stops, track fellow Guardian riders, and of course take photos or videos, hands-free. You can check out the demo below to see how the technology works:
Like other augmented reality helmets, such as the Skully which is now in beta testing, the Guardian helmet uses emerging augmented reality technology to make motorcycle riders safer. This includes a “rearview mirror” camera that shows a live feed in the helmet’s Epson Moverio built-in smart glasses, built-in speakers and microphones capable of handling voice commands, and GPS navigation.
The company hopes to have their product on market shelves in around a year’s time, according to Discovery.
