The R-Car M2 (R8A7791) 32-bit automotive SoC handles dashboard and information device control and is capable of more than 12,000 DMIPS, plus twice the graphics performance of previous generation devices. It features a Cortex A-15 core and SH-4A core dual core configuration.
The 831-pin FCBGA packaged SOC also has a 520 MHz SGX544MP2 graphics engine from Imagination Technologies, a DDR3-SDRAM external memory interface, video image processing, a distortion compensation module, and a PCIe 2.0 bus port. It has USB 3.0 and 2.0 interfaces, SATA, and a multimedia card interface. Production is scheduled for June 2015 and a low-cost development tool will be available.
