Automotive wide vin front-end power reference design w/cold crank operation & transient protection

TIDA01179

The TIDA-01179 reference design is an automotive front-end power supply that is able to supply 30W maximum output for the 12V car battery. The first stage is a buck-boost DC/DC converter that maintains a stable 15V output voltage over the full DC range of the 12V battery conditions specified in ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2 standards. The second stage is a compact buck converter that enables up to 20W output.

Features:

  • Wide-Vin buck-boost converter during very low dips in input voltage of 3V to 36V DC, 42V transient
  • Designed and tested for ISO 7637-2:2004 Pulse 1, 2a and 3a/b severe conditions (level IV)
  • Designed and tested for severe battery-cold-crank operations (ISO16750-2 level III)
  • Tested for CISPR25 conducted EMI (class 5)
  • This circuit design is tested, shippable and includes hardware only
