Enabling cinema-quality sound and picture in home theater designs, the ADV7850 complete AV (audio-video) front-end is designed for improving video image, color quality and audio clarity in advanced HD systems, including HDTVs, AV receivers, video switchers, and projectors. The part is claimed to contain the industry’s first integrated HDMI receiver to support THX Media Director embedded metadata using multiple Vendor Specific Infoframes.
Complete with the company’s Xpressview fast-switching HDMI technology, this part also integrates a 3D comb video decoder with an integrated 170 MHz video and graphics digitizer for HD 1080p input formats and stereo audio codec. The ADV7850 supports HDCP repeater applications and can also be operated as a HDMI transceiver.
Housed in a 425-BGA package, the chip is compatible with the company’s Advantiv digital crosspointswitches, Blackfin and SHARC processors, the iMEMs microphones, and power management ICs. It operates over 0° to 70°C. ($34.45 ea/1,000 — samples, now)
