Avago Technologies Delivers Industry's Smallest FETs for Multiple Wireless Applications
Avago Technologies today announced the industry’s smallest packaged field effect transistors (FETs). These ultra small, low-profile discrete low noise devices occupy less than 5% the volume of a standard SOT-343 package. The new VMMK-1218 and -1225 leverage Avago’s innovative chip scale packaging technology which enables miniaturization of transistors with high-frequency operation and superior thermal dissipation. These revolutionary devices do not require negative voltage to operate, resulting in lower costs and ease of use for RF designers.
Leverages New Chip Scale Packaging Innovation to Reduce Size of the Device
The VMMK-1225 supports 0.5 to 26.5 GHz frequency ranges with a noise figure of less than 0.95 dB and 12 dB available gain under 50 ohms conditions at 12 GHz. The FET also offers 23 dBm output third-order intercept and 8 dBm output power. The VMMK-1218 operates from 0.5 to 18 GHz with a noise figure of less than 0.85 dB and 9 dB available gain under 50 ohms conditions at 10 GHz. The FET also offers 22 dBm output third-order intercept and 12 dBm output power.
The size and performance of these transistors make it suitable for a variety of wireless applications, including commercial radios, UWB, radar, base stations, military communications, RF sensors, WiMAX, satellite communications or any DC-26 GHz application requiring small-sized components.
