Avago Technologies Introduces High Performance Power Amplifiers for WiMAX and Next-Generation Cellular Networks
Avago Technologies has announced two new power amplifier product families designed for next generation cellular and WiMAX applications. Avago has added the MGA-30116/– 30216/– 30316 family of half watt base station power amplifiers and the ALM-42316 low voltage power amplifier for mobile handset and fixed terminals to its product offerings. Avago’s new power amplifiers support cellular (GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA) and WiMAX frequencies.
New Modules Simplify Design and Advances Performance of Mobile Handsets, Access Points and Base Station Equipment
Offering industry-high linearity performance levels, Avago’s new ultra small WiMAX power amplifiers are fully matched to simplify product design and speed the time to market. These power amplifiers are effectively architected for the entire chain of WiMAX product design needs from mobile handsets to customer premise equipment (CPE) and base stations.
More specifically, the ALM-42316 delivers 23 dBm linear output power (2.5% EVM at 64 QAM OFDM) and a high gain of 30 dB when operated at 3.3V and 400 mA. With built-in detector, bypass switch and shutdown function, the ALM-42316 is designed for (802.16e) mobile terminals operating in the 3.3-3.8 GHz frequency band and is housed in a 5 x 5 x 1.1mm molded chip-on-board (MCOB) package. ALM-42216, which is a follow up product with similarly impressive performance in 2.3-2.7GHz WiMAX frequency band, will be market released by the end of April 2008.
