Avnet Electronics Marketing and Murata Celebrate 30-year Milestone

The Avnet Electronics Marketing operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) and Murata Manufacturing Company, Ltd. are celebrating their 30-year partnership.

As the sun rose on 1980, history was being made. Ronald Reagan became the 40th president of the United States; Hewlett-Packard released its first personal computer; Ted Turner launched the Cable News Network (CNN); and Avnet and Murata teamed up to provide the electronics industry with one of the most diverse lines of discrete components. Murata’s capacitors, thermistors, resistors and resonators, microwave components and power supplies can be found in everyday consumer products such as PCs, automotive electronics, mobile devices and digital electronics – solidifying Murata’s place in electronics history.

“While there have been seismic changes in the technology industry over the past 30 years, Avnet and Murata have leveraged our collective strengths to meet the shifting needs of our customers,” said Ed Smith, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “The unique combination of Avnet’s support capabilities and Murata’s diverse line of products helps our customers minimize design times and accelerate time to market.”

“Our long-standing relationship with Avnet has helped propel our company into the forefront of the marketplace and drive greater innovations fueled by our products,” said Tony Coalson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Murata Electronics North America. “We look forward to 30 more years.”
