Avnet extends Ultra96 dev platform with new resources

Avnet adds new expansion boards and a technical training series for its Ultra96-V2 development board

By Gina Roos, editor-in-chief

Avnet  has expanded its Ultra96 platform with new resources, including a technical training series and add-on boards for engineers who are using the new Ultra96-V2 development board for their artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) projects.

Avnet released the 96Boards Click Mezzanine add-on board for the Ultra96 platform, which is based on the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC. Available now, it’s priced at $16. The add-on board enables designers to connect the 96Boards low-speed (LS) header to Click Boards by MikroElektronika and add devices such as sensors, controls, and relays to the MPSoC. In addition, the Click Boards offer personalization for any end application, which reduces the risk of designing custom boards.

A 96Boards Click Mezzanine Starter Kit is available for $49. It bundles the 96Boards Click Mezzanine with three Click Boards.

To help engineers better leverage the software and hardware capabilities of the Ultra96 boards and reduce prototype development time and complexity, Avnet now offers technical training courses that include introductory and advanced courses available online and in numerous cities nationwide. Conducted by Hackster.io , an Avnet Community, these courses include educational presentations and hands-on labs that support both V1 and V2 boards. The Ultra96-V2 development board  will be available this summer for $249.

Introductory courses are available immediately at hackster.io/workshops/ultra96 . Advanced courses will be available in June. The introductory three-course bundle is priced at $59, and each advanced workshop will be an additional $99.
