AVX Showcases Electronics Innovation During Visit From Avnet Express & Ubm Electronics’ “Drive For Innovation” Tour

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (December 21, 2011) — AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, was a recent stop on the “Drive For Innovation” tour, sponsored by Avnet Express and UBM Electronics. Anchored by Brian Fuller, editor at EE Times, the Drive For Innovation program is designed to promote electronics innovation and automotive system design. During the 12-month cross-country journey in a fire-engine red Chevrolet Volt, Brian is stopping at manufacturing facilities and technology centers, like AVX, to celebrate innovative products and people in electronics and technology.

“During the Drive For Innovation tour I have learned that American innovation and manufacturing is alive and well in the United States, and this could not be more applicable than at AVX,” said Brian Fuller, editor at EE Times. “AVX demoed and displayed several impressive products, including power film capacitors, fail-safe capacitors, interconnect solutions, and antenna matching filters that are currently being adopted by manufacturers of traditional and hybrid/electric vehicles, military/aerospace equipment, consumer electronics and many other devices. AVX manufactures billions of products every month, many of which play integral roles in enabling technology innovations and performance enhancements.”

“We were delighted to host Brian Fuller of UBM Media and the Drive for Innovation team at our headquarters in the Greenville area. It was an outstanding opportunity to show off our enabling products for the electronics industry, in particular many devices for automotive and transportation applications. AVX components are in automobiles, trucks and trains around the world, including China, Europe and USA. It was also a good opportunity to spotlight the City of Greenville’s green initiatives by driving the Chevy Volt downtown to plug in to one of the city’s many free charging stations,” said Pete Venuto, vice president sales at AVX.
