AWG shatters current

Unit attains single-channel sampling to 4.8
Gsamples/s in benchtop or ATE configurations
Described as the industry's fastest arbitrary
waveform generator (AWG), the DBS2055 consists of
two of the company's DBS2050A instrument modules
in a two-slot case. For use alone or in
conjunction with automatic test equipment, the
unit attains a single-channel sampling rate of
4.8 Gsamples/s, allowing designers to
characterize and test magnetic storage systems;
wired, wireless, and fiber networks; and radar
applications. Using proprietary calibration and compensation
techniques, the instrument surpasses current
benchmarks for signal rise and fall times (less
than 250 ps) and output amplitude flatness
(±0.5 dB from dc to over 2 GHz). Dynamic
range is 60 dB of gain, 30 dB of offset with
12-bit resolution.
The DBS2055 arbitrary waveform generator
reports the industry's fastest sampling rate for
conventional benchtop and modular
instruments–4.8 Gsamples/s in single-channel
mode.
In single or dual sync modes, the DBS2055
produces a true differential or single-ended
waveform with full-scale output levels up to 4.0
Vp-p. Dual-channel synchronization produces
matched waveforms with time skew and jitter of
less than 10 ps rms; synchronous-quad-channel
operation is also allowed.

The unit is controlled via IEEE-488, IEEE-1394,
or 100Base-T Ethernet. Application tools include
VXI drivers for Windows 98/NT/2000, with waveform
creation and analysis accomplished using the
Wavesmith analog waveform development system.
