BGA socket combines small footprint, low insertion loss

The SG-BGA-8029 high performance BGA socket for 0.8-mm-pitch 900-ball FCBGA operates at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. Contact resistance is approximately 20 mΩ per I/O.

The socket is mounted with no soldering, using hardware supplied. It incorporates a quick insertion method using shoulder screws and a swivel socket lid. It incorporates a heat sink and fan and also features an independent compression mechanism to accommodate package-manufacturing variations. Packet sizes accommodated are 0.8-mm pitch 25 x 25-mm, and 30 x 30 ball array. ($1,846 — available now.)
