The near-perfect-Gaussian quality of the diode’s beam requires only small, simple shaping optics. The 450-nm-wavelength diode has a 50-mW output, operates at 5.5 V, and has a 0.9-W/A slope efficiency and threshold and operating currents of 30 and 80 mA, respectively.
