Boost LED driver has LED wire fault detection
The two-channel HV9880 boost LED driver with LED wire fault detection and channel-independent PWM dimming enables separate LED strings to be operated at different PWM duty cycles for color mixing in LCD TV and backlighting applications. This independently control dimming and color mixing feature results in better picture resolution and higher contrast ratio.
By incorporating LED wire fault protection, the IC eliminates the need for a separate high-side current sensor, thus reducing system cost and complexity. The IC also features a peak mode current control scheme that controls output current within ±3% accuracy over all line and load conditions. Housed in a 24-lead SOW package (HV9880WG-G), the device also features an internally fixed 100-kHz switching frequency. ($1.41 ea/1,000 — samples available now; prod qty, 4 to 6 weeks ARO.)
