Breakthrough TCS target telecom apps

The transient current suppressor (TCS) DL-series provides ultra-fast circuit protection for very high data rate signal lines such as those used in xDSL and gigabit Ethernet. The devices are high-speed, bidirectional, low resistance, automatically resettable, compact current limiting devices that protect circuits from overcurrent surges. They are designed to be used in conjunction with a suitable overvoltage limiting device, such as a TVS diode or a thyristor. The high-speed protector acts like a low-value resistor during normal operation and can block voltages up to 40-V enabling low-V electronics to be protected by low capacitance, high-V TVS devices.

The transient current suppressor minimizes board size and reduces field failures and helps end-users decrease maintenance, repair and system downtime costs. Protecting within nanoseconds, the devices are capable of significantly reducing latency common in most circuit protection designs, and limit the let-through energy that could damage electronic circuits. They consist of a TCS device and an overvoltage protector such as a clamping diode providing overvoltage and overcurrent protection solution. (TCS-DL004-250-WH, $0.42 ea/1,000 — available now.)
