Broadcast video chipset enables 3-Gbit/s serial digital interface apps
Serializer and deserializer claim best jitter performance and support the new SMPTE 424M broadcast video specification
Offered as the industry’s first such devices for 3-Gbit/s multirate SDI applications, the LMH0340 serializer and the LMH0341 deserializer are said to offer the lowest output jitter at 50 ps and highest input jitter tolerance of 0.6 units interval, respectively. Additionally, the 3G chipset uses a proprietary technique to reduce the parallel bus between the serializer and FPGA from a 20-bit single-ended interface to a 5-bit LVDS interface.
Consuming just 437 mW of power, the LMH0340 with integrated SMPTE-compliant cable driver supports 270-Mbit/s, 1.485-Gbit/s, and 2.97-Gbit/s data rates. Consuming 445 mW at 2.97 Gbit/s, the LMH0341 with integrated reclocker, supports DVB-ASI at 270-Mbit/s and SDI for SD, HD, and 3-Gbit/s data rates.
Both parts support the new Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 424M specification for uncompressed serial transmission of 1080p high-definition (HD) broadcast video signals up to 60 fps. (Ea/100: LMH0340 $37; LMH0341 $40samples, 3rd qtr.)
