The LTM8055 and LTM8056 buck-boost µModule regulators seamlessly regulate an output voltage equal to, greater or less than the input voltage. They are housed in 15 x 15 x 4.92 mm BGA package and include the inductor, dc/dc regulator, MOSFETs and the supporting components. The LTM8055 operates from input voltages ranging from 5 to 36 V, delivering a load current up to 8 A. The LTM8056 has an input voltage up to 60 V with 4-A load current capability.
The buck-boost micro-module solution saves PCB space and targets battery operated devices, industrial control, avionics and solar-powered equipment. For battery charging or precision load current adjustment, both devices enable input and output average current limit setting. Switching frequency is adjustable from 100 to 800 kHz, while each device can be synchronized to an external clock frequency from 200 to 700 kHz. With one resistor, the output voltage can be adjusted from 1.2 to 36 V (LTM8055) and 1.2 to 48 V (LTM8056). The LTM8055 and LTM8056 are operational for –40° to 125°C and –55° to 125°C.
