Bus buffer aids I2C and PMBus serial links

The IES5501 dual bidirectional unity gain buffer is compatible with I2C, SMBus, and PMbus and extends the bus load limit by buffering both the clock and data lines. It supports up to 400-pF loads on each side of the buffer at 400 kHz, and features very low input-to-output offset voltages, allowing buffer cascading.

The device supports supply voltages of 1.8 to 15 V and provides one of the fastest response times available, ensuring any glitches are kept well within the 50-ns I2 C specification. The chip is offered in 8-pin SO and 8-pin MSOP packages. ($1 ea/2,500—available now.)
