The MPLAB XC C complier has a simplified licensing model with three versions for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit PIC MCUs. The compiler improves code execution speed by about 30% while reducing code size by about 35% – compared to the previous versions.
Free, Standard, and Professional version are available as are free 60 day evaluations. The package integrates with MPLAB IDE and all other development tools and runs on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. (Pro editions, $995 — all editions coming out in April/May.)
