The LMH1218 low-power cable driver with integrated re-clocker handles video data using serial digital interface (SDI) or 10GbE protocols compatible with SMPTE-SDI, SMPTE 2022-5/6, and DVB-ASI standards. It will transmit at up to 12 Gbits/s, enabling UHD resolution of 4K at a 60p frame rate over a single coax cable.
The chip features a typical power consumption of only 300 mW. The 4 x 4 mm QFN24 packaged IC has 75 and 50 Ω transmitter outputs to handle coax, fiber, and FR-4 PCB. It costs $25 ea/1,000 and an evaluation kit (LMH1218EVM) is available.
