Cable equalizer offers longest reach,lowest jitter

The M21544 adaptive equalizer is claimed to offer the longest reach and lowest output jitter for serial digital interface (SDI) applications. It performs adaptive, low-noise, high-gain equalization for 75-Ω coaxial cables at all SDI data rates, supporting greater than 200 m at 3Gbit/s (3G).

The part features an integrated jitter cleaner that enables it to deliver the lowest output jitter in the industry — less than 0.20 unit intervals (UI) after compensating for 200 m of cable at 2.97Gbit/s. This eliminates the need for stand-alone reclockers at the input of a system.

The M21544 is the dual output version of the equalizer, while a single output version, the M21564, is also available. The M21544 is housed in an industry-standard 4 x 4 mm 24-pin QFN package, and the M21564 in a 4 x 4 mm 16-pin QFN package.

Each differential output features programmable swing as well as de-emphasis, enabling signals to be transmitted across 40 in of trace. Each equalizer operates using a single 2.5 V supply voltage and features advanced diagnostics capabilities including cable length indication, loss of signal detection and offers power management capabilities.(Contact company for pricing — available now)
