From a design perspective, it allows layout coordination from stage one, minimizing changes to the PCB later in the process, while from a library management perspective, it uses one database, with parts sets that integrate with databases for activities such as managing the product lifecycle and purchasing. Users can open and modify existing CADSTAR PCB designs, as well as create new designs from scratch within the new tool; all viewable as a standard E3 file within the E3 project structure.
