As automobile manufacturers impose tougher EMC requirements, automotive electrical applications increase and the degree of networking in present and future vehicle generations rises, demand for CAN bus chokes is constantly increasing. These chokes are needed to minimize spurious emissions from the automotive electrical system and suppress interference with on-board electronics.
Broadband damping of common-mode noise can be set as required with the various choke inductances. Chokes with sectoral coils and higher leakage inductance affect differential-mode noise in the data signal in particular and thus any associated interference with the RF signal.
EPCOS offers CAN bus chokes in various technologies and sizes to meet this demand. Suitable for ambient temperatures up to 150 °C, they can satisfy the toughest demands of the automobile industry. The new CAN bus chokes can thus be used in the immediate vicinity of the engine, in gearboxes, engine control units, ABS or power steering systems, to name just a few examples.
