Capacitor charger IC suits PC modem cards

Housed in a 12-pin TSOPJW package, the AAT4620 supercapacitor charger IC is suited for high-side load-switching applications in PC modem cards. The AAT4620 combines a p-channel MOSFET current switch with two independent, programmable current limits, a power loop, and reverse blocking.

As long as thermal dissipation is low, the integrated current limiting allows the capacitor to charge until it reaches 98% of its final value. Set by two external resistors, the current limits support ±10% accuracy over the normal operating temperature range. Additional features include quiescent current of 40 µA typ, a shutdown current of 1 µA, an integrated digital power loop, a reverse blocking protection, and system-ready output pin.
