TI’s CC3100MOD enables users to add Wi-Fi to low-power, low-cost microcontrollers (MCU) for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

CC3100MOD
The CC3100MOD is an FCC, IC, CE, and Wi-Fi Certified module. It is part of the new SimpleLink Wi-Fi family that simplifies the implementation of Internet connectivity.

This module integrates all protocols for Internet and Wi-Fi, which greatly minimizes host MCU software requirements. Specifically, the CC3100MOD solution provides a robust security experience in an easy-to-utilize LGA package. It is a complete platform solution with user and programming guides, sample applications, various tools and software, the TI E2E support community, and reference designs.

The CC3100MOD’s Wi-Fi network processor subsystem features a Wi-Fi Internet-on-a-Chip and a dedicated ARM MCU that completely offloads the host MCU. The CC3100MOD module supports Access Point, Wi-Fi Direct, and Station modes, as well as WPA2 personal and enterprise security and WPS 2.0. It includes HTTP server, embedded TCP/IP and TLS/SSL stacks, and multiple Internet protocols. The power-management subsystem has an integrated DC-DC converter. This subsystem enables low-power consumption modes such as hibernate with RTC mode, which requires approximately 7 μA of current.

The CC3100MOD module can connect to any 8-, 16-, or 32-bit MCU over the UART or SPI Interface.
