Chip aids 8-Gbit/s PCIe 3.0 signal integrity

The PI2EQX8804 8 Gbit/s PCI Express 3.0 ReDriver provides signal conditioning with programmable equalization, pre-emphasis, and output voltage swing settable via pin-strap or I2 C/SMBus to optimize signal integrity over backplanes, cables, or other media. The ICs eight differential channels, support x4 lane PCIe 1.0/2.0/3.0 applications.

The LBGA100-packaged chip also provides bi-directional loop back functionality for easy debug, a selectable signal detector threshold and selectable input/output termination. It operates on 1.5 V, takes only 100 mW/port, and is pin compatible with the 5-Gbit/s earlier version. ($4.95 ea/50,000 production December.)
