Chip inductor improves DCR and current rating
Enables thinner battery-powered devices
With a 2.5 x 2.0-mm footprint and 1.0-mm maximum height, the CKP2520-2R2 multilayer chip power inductor provides a dc resistance of 0.09 Ω and a current rating of 1.3 A—presented as improvements of 35% and 44%, respectively, over comparably sized parts. The inductor enables thinner higher-performance multifunction portable battery-powered cell phones and digital cameras.
Part of a new family, the inductors have inductances from 1.0 to 4.7 µH and current ratings from 1.1 to 1.1 A. The improvements are made possible by tighter electromagnetic field control and a proprietary new internal-electrode printing process that doubled the thickness of the internal conductor.
